So here I am with a goal to get healthy, for me it is not about just losing weight but changing the way I view health, setting up solid habits and not the way the world views it but the way God does. His ways are perfect! With every struggle in my life He was the light in the dark...He ripped away so many bad peices and replaced them with good.. I know He can and will do the same with my health. & yours too!
Today I am sharing with you a book by Stormie Omaritan. She is famous for her amazing prayer books but I wish her health book was more known too!
This is not a diet book, this is a total health book...God's way! Not only does this book help with physical but it will strengthen your mental and spirtual health as well.
"Greater Health God's Way" kept me reading & reading!
Stormie says,
"The Bible says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6. How true! Sickness and premature death are commonplace, all because we have no knowledge of the Lords ways. We live so very far from the way God intended us to live. That's why there is so much pain and sickness, so many headaches, heart attacks, bad tempers, mental illness, and just plain lack of joy. We suffer a great deal just because of our own ignorance about God's ways."
She also says,
"It is not good to be preoccupied with your body, but it is wise to value the temple God has given you. The holy spirit of God dwells in and works through that wonderful body of yours. But how do you treat it? Do you feed it poorly, never allow it to have any exercise, keep it shut away from fresh air and sunshine, fill it with the poisons of unforgiveness and bitterness, never allow it any rest, and then criticize it because it doesnt look good and never does what you want?"
Stormie does not only discuss foods to avoid, foods to eat but the importance of sunshine and peaceful living. She also talks about the damange of stress.
Her book features 7 steps to inner and outer beauty. The 7 steps are:
Peaceful Living
Pure Food
Proper Exercise
Plenty of water
Prayer & Fasting
Fresh Air & Sunlight
Perfect Rest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I highly recommend this book! If you would like to journey with me, let me know and we can link up each 7 step..encourage eachother!
My first step is avoiding pop, juice, coffee, ect. I want to drink
W A T E R! & lots of it! I pray that the Lord helps me to crave water and only water!
I love fruity drinks so I thought why not naturally sweeten my water {without the extra chemicals and sugar} I simply add lemon and sliced strawberries. It gives my water a slight sweet taste: perfect!!
If you have any tips on managing your health the Lords way, please share =}
Much love,
Sarah beth
Oh my goodness Sarah Beth - you're getting it where it HURTS!!!!! My hubbie has been lovingly encouraging me to lay off my Cherry Coke problem and I don't want to!!! I'm completely addicted to it and I know it! Sounds like a wonderful book!
I used to love soda (pop) and now I drink tons of water instead. Two things helped me. First I drink flavored seltzer when I want something fizzy. My favorite flavor is raspberry lime. Second, I use Celestial Seasonings blueberry tea and brew a big pitcher with a few tea bags. I let that sit for a while and then add ice and pour it into a pitcher. I drink that when I want a little flavor. It is so watered down that it is more water than tea.
Ann~ That is great your hubby is lovingly encouraging you to quit the coke! =} I wouldnt completely quit all together, maybe set a goal of so much a day..keep slowly working your way down. Oh and lots of prayer is the key! That is what I am doing with cherry 7up and I love sprite mixed with cranberry juice. Right now I am trying to drink 4 bottles of water a day and letting myself have 1 can at dinner time! ;)
Theresa, I love your ideas..miss the fizz so I am going to try it! Thank you for the tips!! Blueberry sounds good right now! =}
Oh the water thing... so important but HARD to remember! I forget to drink! Like you I have taken to adding a little flavor. My favorite is to squeeze a lime quarter over crushed ice. I find it helps me to do it if I keep limes cut in the fridge - no excuses! If I am in the mood for something sweet, I mix soda water/selzer with a bit of 100% juice.
I love Stormie's books, but didn't know about this one. I'll have to pick it up. I love your suggestion of sliced strawberries in water. I'll love that.
I pray your determination will continue to be firm.
Blessings,
Pamela
Thank you for the prayers Pamela~much appreciated!! Yes do try the strawberries, its delish!
Patti~I will have to try lime..sounds great!
Hi Sarah Beth, best of blessings with your journey. Here is something I am thinking of trying for my family. I saw one in the grocer's the other day. I am EXCITED about trying it. http://www.amazon.com/Prodyne-Infusion-93-Ounce-Natural-Pitcher/dp/B0023UL86A
Have you studied the Kosher Diet as laid out by G-d Himself in Leviticus? Science is not finally after 4,000 years...catching up with G-d's way. A big thing is mixing meat and dairy. When you mix meat and diary (you can research this yourself) it helps to stimulate cancer cells. Alot of people freak out and yell "legalism" about the Torah, but I personally think that G-d did not put one Word or dot in the Bible without purpose and reason.
This sounds like a great book. I have been reading a book by Joyce Meyer and she encourages us to wake up and say something like, "I will not overeat today because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Just keep speaking God's promises to yourself and if you blow it, don't become discouraged, which is Satan's goal but be encouraged by renewing your mind with God's truth and He wants us to be moderate in all things and gives us the ability to do that with His spirit living inside of us!
:) love it!!! i would like to join u on the 7step journey. I should get the book..you mentioned 2. should i read the first one and than get the 7step?!!
never mind, i went and reread, theres 7steps in the book. haha! Just ordered it on my nook! :)
hi there Sarah beth,
I just happened upon your blog and I read this posting. I just tried cucumber water yesterday and it was really refreshing. I also like to put orange slices or lime slices in my water too. It seems we have a lot in common. I'm just getting back to blogging after a two year hiatus and it feels good. take care,
Julie
