Our Resurrection Day

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, our Savior! "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here." ...My goal for the weeknd was to bring to light the true meaning of this amazing day...I felt convicted to diminish the big magical bunny... who came up with that idea anyways?? I use to tell the kids there was a rabbit and he filled and hid the baskets..I felt I was passing on a tradition that I loved as a child. As I looked back to my childhood and our Easter sundays, I was most excited about family gatherings and a pretty new dress for church! Also getting up extra early and hunting for my basket. All those things can be accomplished without the idea of a rabbit. With taking away the bunny and adding the death and resurrection of Jesus made our holiday weekend trully exciting! The time came to sit down with the children so Jon and I could tell them the news, no bunny but Jesus died for us and rose, that is very real! My children asked, you make our baskets? I said yes we do... wow thats cool, you buy us all that candy and cool stuff? Yes we do.. thanks mom and dad. No whinning , atcually no big deal at all, yay.
Saturday we spent our evening decorating eggs with pink, blue, orange, green and purple dye.. glitter and 3D stickers of the cross and churches..too cool! We had stickers of flowers and sports..we sat and decorated for awhile..it was so fun and such a blessing to have all of my family together being creative!
Sunday we woke early, 6am early! Jayces Easter basket was hid in his tub, Alyssa on the washer, Draven in my closet.. they loved their baskets and it was sweet to recieve their thank you’s. We ate alittle candy, not going to lie, we did-Mmm! Lol Then Jon made us his yummy breakfast sandwiches and afterwards I read the crucifixion and rising of Jesus Christ.. it was a wonderful moment to have them recite the meaning of Easter. We have been reading and watching videos all week..it was neat to hear Alyssa and Draven telling daddy everything they learned! Next we dressed and went to church and enjoyed a longer service. When we came home the kids played with their playdough and blew bubbles while Jon and I made dinner together. We ended our evening with a slice of strawberry shortcake and 4 rounds of BINGO! A blessed Resurrection day indeed...

Sarah, I am so envious of your Easter. The memories you created and wonderful times spent with your family is exactly what Easter should be about. I know the Lord was pleased too!! Sounds like you were able to convey exactly the right message to your children and that will be something they will always cherish.
